Design

This is an interesting looking watch, with an open dial, so the movement is visible trough the dial at the front. We have the blue version, which means the dial is blue, and the bands are blue (with red stitches). There is also a black and a rose gold version available. The open design makes the dial quite busy, but reading time is still no problem, as the hands are well-marked with red colour.

Case

The case is made of alloy, and our model is silver. The case looks quite standard except for two details.
The first is the raised edge/bezel around the window. It is slightly raised, and has some cuts all around. This could also help protect the window a bit, especially against flat surfaces.
The second detail is the red lines in the cuts between 12 and 3 o’clock.
Both these details makes the watch look more interesting and a bit rougher.
On the side you’ll find the crown with the logo engraved.

Through the clear glass window on the back, you can see the automatic movement, and in the middle is a part holding against the glass. It has the shape of the STARKING logo.

This watch is also rated 50M waterproof, which is quite unusual at this price point. Being protected against water at this level is very welcome!

Dial

The window is flat but is slightly protected by the raised bezel/edge.
This is definitively a busy looking watch, because of the dials design and the fact that it’s open. Colours are also vibrant, with its blue, red and silver.
Since the contrast between the colours and parts are so high, it’s no problem reading the time.

Hands are silver with big red marks, which gives a good contrast.
Hour markers are silver with red squares, while minutes/seconds are marked with white lines.

Do notice that’s there’s no date wheel on this watch. There’s also no lume, so telling time in the dark could be a problem.

Movement

The watch has a high beat 28800 movement, which means it vibrates 28800 times per hour – or 8 times per seconds.
After opening the package, and winding the watch for the first time, i wore it continuously for 5 days without winding it at all. At night I took it off and put it on a table. At the end of the 5th day the watch was still going strong without stopping. This shows it should be safe to wear the watch without winding it very often, although it is recommended to wind automatic watches manually sometime.

After the first 24 hours i checked the accuracy, which was at +12 seconds. After 48 hours it was +27 seconds (total).

Bands

The bands are made of leather and is the same type as you can see in many of my reviews/videos. At first it will be a bit stiff, because it’s straight and new, but after some time it will take shape of the wrist and become quite comfortable.

My bands are dark blue with red stitches, which looks good and matches the rest of the design very well.

Material quality is good, and there’s two band retainers to hold them in place while it’s on the wrist. One is as usual fixed, while the other one is adjustable.

Wearing

Conclusion

This is a watch for those who want a busy watch, because there’s a lot going on here.
High contrast colours, an open busy dial and blue bands…
The watch feels good on the wrist, and the high beat movement looks good and works well.
The size is good, although it’s listed as a 40 mm watch, but I measured it to 43 mm … ? Anyway, it’s not big or small, so should be a good fit for most wrist sizes.
