Awei T10C Review

When choosing TWS earphones for gaming, the latency is very important, but that doesn’t make anything else less important. Let’s find out if the Awei T10C delivers what they promise.

In the box

Included in the box we got the usual accessories.
A very yellow user manual, in both English and Chinese language.
A charging cable, Micro USB to USB type A, so sadly not a USB type C.
Cone shaped rubber buds in different sizes. One thing to note here, is that the large ones are very large, and the small ones are very small.
We also got a nice little carry pouch for some extra protection.

The Case

The case itself is made of a shiny plastic, and it doesn’t exactly have a premium feel to it, but I guess it’s ok for the price. In here is a 300 mAh battery, and it’s got wireless charging, so if you have a wireless charger, you won’t need to use the cable at all.
This case can charge the earphones about 3 times before it’s empty, which isn’t very much, but again, I think it’s ok for the low price.

It’s not the smallest case I have seen, but it’s quite compact and light in weight, so at least it is pocket friendly.

The lid holds on by magnet, feels solid enough and it stays closed when it’s supposed to.

The Earphones

Usually earphones like these have a straight stem, but Awei made an angle on the T10C, which makes them sit very comfortably in the ears. They also have a sharp edge from top to bottom, which makes it easy to adjust their position without accidentally touching the controls. On the middle of the stem is a little hole, which holds the led light, and I think this is also where the microphone is placed. I recorded some samples from the microphone, so check out the video if you want to hear the sound quality. It’s not fantastic, but it’s good enough for making some calls.

They are also IPX4 sweat and water resistant, so using them in rain and while training shouldn’t be a problem. They also say you can shower with them, but they do not recommend it, so to be safe, I wouldn’t do it.

The earphones battery is informed to last about 3 hours per charge, which isn’t fantastic, but it’s quite normal at this price point. During my tests I sometimes got up to 4 hours of loud music, so they actually delivered more than I expected. They also charge quite quickly, and from empty to full takes about 1 hour.

While the earphones are charging, they will light up with a green colour, and on the front of the case we have a battery indicator for the case itself. The lights on the earphones are also slightly visible through the lid on the case, so we can see if they’re still charging without taking them out.

Music Controls

For controlling music, we have the following commands:

  • Tap once to play or pause, on the right or left earphone
  • To switch to the next or previous song, double tap on the right or left earphone
  • Raise or lower the volume by holding

The edge on top of the earphones, makes it easy to find the touch sensitive area, as it’s located right below this edge. Just feel for the edge with your finger, and tap under it. Success almost every time, so it works very well.

Sound Quality / Conclusion

They sit very comfortably in the ear, and the angled stem helps holding them in the right position. There are three sizes of rubber buds included, but the big difference in size made it a bit difficult to find some that fit perfectly. But at least, they didn’t fall out while I was testing them.
They’re also quite compact, so they don’t stick much out from the sides.

The sound quality is quite good, especially for such a low price. They have 6mm drivers that work quite well.
Mids and highs are clean and sound good, without going too high, or being fatiguing in any way.
Vocals are nice and present, and the balance all over is good.
If you like bass, these are also good, but only if you get a good seal with the rubber buds. As it goes quite deep, and has good punch, and a nice rumble.
In music with a lot of bass, it can get a little bit muddy at higher volumes, but overall the sound quality is quite nice.

Inside the earphones is a Bluetooth 5 chip with a gaming mode, and it does a good job with latency. It’s hardly noticeable while watching videos, and while playing games you can use the gaming mode, which lowers the latency even more. Just tap the right earphone three times, and you’ll hear a little beep confirming that gaming mode is active. I tested with PUGB Mobile (for many, many hours) and it’s quite good. There’s still a short delay, but it’s good enough even for some fast gaming.

Overall these are good earphones for the price, with good sound and bass, a welcome gaming mode, wireless charging and a OK built case.
